Updates over the air (FOTA) is a cloud-based service that allows manufacturers to simply and reliably optimize the vehicle without requiring a visit to the workshop. It also makes new or improved functions available directly to the rider.

Function on Demand

With functions on demand, riders are able to buy additional features for their motorcycle such as special riding modes for off-road or the racetrack. This allows riders to customize their motorcycle even after purchase. Functions on demand do not require a visit to the workshop, increasing convenience for riders.

Update process

Functions can be purchased easily in the manufacturer’s app like in any other online store, from home or on the run. Once the feature has been purchased and downloaded to a smartphone, the rider can install it on the motorcycle by connecting the phone to the bike.

When the motorcycle is in a safe state, such as at a standstill, the installation process starts. After successful completion and reboot of the vehicle, the rider is good to go. When manufacturers deploy updates, the rider will get a notification and can start the same process.
